Constraint Satisfaction with Succinctly Specified Relations
The general intractability of the constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) has motivated the study of the complexity of restricted cases of this problem. Thus far, the literature has primarily considered the formulation of the CSP where constraint relations are given explicitly. We initiate the systematic study of CSP complexity with succinctly specified constraint relations.
متن کاملConstraint Satisfaction with Preferences
First works on constraint satisfaction problems (CSP) can be traced in the 70’th but their widespread study and application started since the end of 80’th when the extension of unification algorithm of logic programming led to the proposal of constraint logic programming (CLP) scheme. Introductory part of the thesis introduces both proposals as approaches allowing to express properties of the p...
متن کاملSolving Constraint Satisfaction Puzzles with Constraint Programming
Constraint Programming (CP) is a powerful paradigm for solving Combinatorial Problems (generally issued from Decision Making). In CP, Enumeration Strategies are crucial for resolution performances. In this work, we model the known benchmark problems Latin Square, Magic Square and Sudoku as a Constraint Satisfaction Problems. We solve them with Constraint Programming comparing the performance of...
متن کاملConstraint Satisfaction Search 1 Constraint Satisfaction Problems
For the past thirty ve years artiicial intelligence researchers have been studying heuristic search techniques. People writing AI programs have had strong intuitions about what it means for a program to search. Intuitively they classiied programs according to the kinds of search performed. Certain programs, such as matrix multiplication routines, did no search whatsoever. Other programs searche...
